Out of the Wreck I Rise

Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? —Romans 8:35

God does not keep His child immune from trouble; He promises, “I will be with him in trouble . . .” (Psalm 91:15). It doesn’t …

... you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood ... I Peter 2:4-5

Women's Spring Tea

Saturday, May 14th, 2011

11:00-1:00

Theme:  "Overcoming Our Fears"

Even though we live in a world that is filled with personal disappointments, traumas, and fear, God's plan for mankind never intended for anyone to live afraid or defeated, and the Bible proves it by offering over 365 verses that specifically deal with eliminating fear.

Polly Harder will be our speaker on this topic.  She has authored two books on this topic, "Don't Be Afraid" and "Communication for Life:  Complete Makeover for the Soul".

For the past three years, Polly Harder has worked for Christ For The Nations in Dallas, Texas, where she is currently the Director of Publishing. She has held positions in management, training, and career counseling for several large corporations in various industries. Polly is also the Director/President of Jordan House Ministries, Inc., which she founded in 1993. As a licensed counselor with more than twenty-five years experience, Polly’s mission is to provide the skills and tools necessary for all of us to live a full and productive life.

Polly is a dear friend of Marion Shanks.  She will have a book table set up to purchase her books, around $10 in the foyer at the tea.

We look forward to seeing you and your friends, sisters, mothers, and daughters.  To reserve your place, please sign up for a table this Sunday morning in the foyer.  Admission is $7.00.

There’s always a lot of hype about Super Bowl commercials. One commercial was rejected by Fox Sports this year for containing too much “religious doctrine.” Yet, just before the 4th quarter, up it popped to the surprise of many. The commercial actually didn’t air in all the markets, and its audience was quite small in comparison to being broadcast nationwide, but boy, what an impact it had!

The commercial drew so much traffic to its website,…

MLK, Jr. - Dreaming the Dream

Do you ever dream about things you want to do? Many great things accomplished in life have started with only a dream. It’s a good thing to analyze our dreams to see if they are within the will of God. If they aren’t, don’t waste your time dreaming about them. The safest place to be is in the center of God’s will so don't let your dreams get you off-center. So, how do we find the center of God’s will? Years ago there was a story told about the ship channels in Italy. It was dangerous for ships…See More

Pulling the Wrong Latch

Did you ever do something stupid, and then acted as if nothing had happened? I remember a story that the illustrious Erma Bombeck told about her husband. It seems that he rented a car while in Pittsburgh and accidently pulled the “open hood” latch rather than the “brake release”. Instead of getting out of the car, closing the hood and driving off, he got out of…See More

Rescued Miners

Who has not been glued to the TV set over the last few days as the 33 Chilean Miners were hauled to the surface one by one? We have been astounded that these men could be held captive underground since August 5th, yet emerge alive and well. Many of the freed miners are sharing their spiritual experiences. God was doing a mighty work while they were entombed over…See More
